Friday’s Found Fun

What time is it?

I am the type that always NEEDS to know what time it is. In my office, I have a clock on every wall. See, what did I tell you. Here are some weird, fun and even disturbing clocks.

Color of the Week

Canary Yellow!

Oh, the ever famous canary yellow. The first time that I ever realized that this was a color to consider was in grade school. Flyers and other important papers that my teachers handed me were always in the ‘canary yellow’ 8-1/2x 11″ paper. Oh, those were the simplest of times, the best of times.

Yellow is the color evoked by light that stimulates both the L and M (long and medium wavelength) cone cells of the retina about equally, with no significant stimulation of the S (short-wavelength) cone cells.[2] Light with a wavelength of 570–580 nm is yellow, as is light with a suitable mixture of red and green. Yellow’s traditional RYB complementary color is purpleviolet, or indigo, while its colorimetrically defined complementary color in both RGB and CMYK color spaces is blue.

The Yellow Canary (Serinus flaviventris) is a small passerine bird in the finch family. It is a resident breeder in much of the western and central regions of southern Africa and has been introduced to Ascension and St Helena islands.

Friday’s Found Fun

I am loving this wall treatment. You can really style any home with this mid-century modern influence.

Check THIS site out to shop.
Here is another inspirational picture. This shows that any decor can take on this idea…not just mid-century modern.

Not a Mundane Monday

When I saw this picture on Apartment Therapy, I got so excited…and I will tell you why. I have ‘inherited’ a kitchen table EXACTLY like this one. I have to be honest and say that I hated it at first, but I couldn’t argue because it was free and at the time we had just moved into a larger house and didn’t have a kitchen table yet. The color was so bright and the chairs matched. I think that the real reason I hated it was because it looked like it did not belong amongst my black and grey contemporary decor. My solution, buy a black table cloth and cover it, plus make slip covers for the chairs. I did this. It looked great and matched! But, now that I see this picture, I am inspired to strip the cloth and show its true personality.

Not such a Mundane Monday

I am in love with this eco-friendly room. The colors are just enough for interest. I am not so sure about that coffee table, however, I would have some serious issues trying to keep everything within a circle. Hello OCD!

What I would change: The coffee table (maybe something with hidden storage) and the wall color. Sherwin Williams Muslin color comes to mind.

Friday’s Found Fun

That’s right…It is Friday, and that means….Friday’s Found Fun.

Well, there is a small design district in San Diego, well, actually there are a few, but very very small ‘design districts’. In fact, I would not really call them design districts, more like an embankment of 5 stores in a row that sell home furnishings, decor, fabric, etc. Anyways, my point… I went to a store called Solo in the Cedros Ave. design district. They are having there annual sale this weekend. I go every year. I love this store. They have a lot of handmade stuff, paper products, some furniture, and a ton of vintage items. I would describe the items that you will find here as ‘Etsy’-like. Take a look, just a few pictures I took from my iPhone while I was shopping.

Have a GREAT weekend!
